The S-14 sensor counts each "tip" of the tipping bucket rain gauge.  The "tip count" is stored in battery backed memory and counts up to 32767 tips and then rolls over to 0 and keeps counting.  Each tip is 0.2 mm of rain so 32767 tips equates to roughly 6.5 meters or 258 inches.  Periodically the sensor initiates a connection to a OmniSense Gateway and sends the current tip count through the gateway to the monitoring web site where the tip count value is logged into the sensor reading database.  As with all of our sensors the reading interval is configurable and can be changed "over the air".
